Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in the United States and in many developing countries.
The Heart Disease Prevention Program in the Division of Cardiology of UCI’s School of Medicine, is staffed by a multidisciplinary group of professionals dedicated to using the newest strategies in cardiovascular disease prevention — including research, teaching, community education and service — to fight heart disease.
The program operates in concert with the UCI Health Preventive Cardiology Program, which provides patient care.

We are an interdisciplinary group of medical professionals whose mission is to address the newest strategies in cardiovascular disease prevention through research, teaching, community education and service. We are dedicated to offering, through UC Irvine Healthcare’s Preventive Cardiology and Cholesterol Management Program, sound patient care to keep your heart healthy.

A Pre-emptive Strike: Addressing Cardiovascular Disease Through Preventive Strategies
Last fall, the UCI School of Medicine held the 15th Annual Orange County Symposium for Cardiovascular Diseases Prevention. The symposium — which brought together primary care providers, cardiologists, endocrinologists, medical students, residents and fellows — was designed to fill knowledge gaps in the fast-evolving field of preventive cardiology.
